Role

The Director is responsible for the daily operations of the Human Resources department. The Director assures that the HR programs and systems for sourcing, recruiting & selection, personnel data management and reporting, employee relations & management advisement, employment related compliance, staff recognition, and management training & development are efficiently and effectively utilized and support the corporation’s short term plans and strategic direction.
 

Qualifications

·          Degree in Human Resources or related field. Master’s degree highly preferred
·          Three years management experience at an advanced level
·          Five years HR generalist experience (with a degree)
·          Demonstrated understanding of financial statements, budgets and planning
·          Computer proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, HRISs
·          Good judgment and independent decision-making
·          Superior interpersonal skills: communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups
·          Highly organized: simultaneously manage many tasks well
·          Well developed oral presentation and writing skills
·          Professional demeanor and appearance
·          Valid drivers' license and automobile insurance per Company policy
·          Ability to travel to off-site locations
 

Responsibilities

General

Recruiting and Selection

·          Direct the development of recruiting plans, strategies and tactics.
·          Oversee HR orientation duties and responsibilities.
·          Monitor hiring activity.
·          Approve position requests and releases within authorized limits.
·          Evaluate practices, recommend improvements.
 

Performance Management

·          Consult with and advise managers on performance management, employee relations and other HR matters.
·          Provide professional guidance and support during disciplinary meetings and terminations.
 Data and Information Management
·          Monitor and audit HR P&Ps, personnel files, practices, work products, service contracts, etc. for ongoing     compliance with organizational standards, appropriate laws, and government regulations.
·          Provide HR data, information, reports for management decision making.
·          Assure timely completion of internal and external reports and audits e.g. EEO, workers’ compensation, PI worksheets.
           

Budgeting and Planning

·          Assist VP/HR and other Senior Staff with the preparation of the annual budget.
·          Monitor and control department budget.
·          Research, identify and evaluate appropriate HR information for ongoing planning and the formal strategic planning process.
·          Participate in developing the annual action plan to support the HR and other pertinent Initiatives. 

 

Training and Development

·          Plan, design, present management development and training programs.
·          Plan for, design and present HR product and services-related training to staff. *
  General Management and Other Responsibilities 
·          Assure that HR staff and self continue to meet all required training, education, health and safety requirements.
·          Manage the performance, including timely formal reviews, of direct reports.
·          Provide for professional development opportunities for direct reports.
·          Provide guidance to employees regarding their rights, privileges and responsibilities as Company employees.
·          Carry out other projects as assigned.
